Football. Fantasy. Questionable Management.

From the editor

Football takes itself seriously enough.

Educating Pork is a home for the stories that make a fantasy football mini-league worth following.

The points matter. So do the conversations afterwards: the captaincy decision nobody understood, the bench haul nobody wanted to talk about, and the manager whose carefully explained strategy lasted exactly one gameweek.

That is the territory of Educating Pork. Football. Fantasy. Questionable Management.

Why Educating Pork?

“You can’t educate pork.”

It’s an expression for the frustration of trying to explain something to someone who has absolutely no intention of listening.

Which brings us neatly to fantasy football.

We study the fixtures. We discuss the numbers. We explain why taking another four-point hit is probably a terrible idea. Then somebody does it anyway and calls it a long-term plan.

Educating Pork is our weekly attempt to make sense of the decisions, celebrate the occasional good one and preserve the evidence when it all goes base over apex.

The editor is very much included.

They say you can’t educate pork. We publish the homework anyway.

One publication. A league at its heart.

Educating Pork PL is our flagship competition. The Weekly Gameweek Report is the core of the paper: a record of the results, decisions and stories behind the table.

A season worth keeping.

The archive will preserve each published report, while the main league page brings together standings, records, awards and developing storylines. When the final gameweek is done, the season will still be here to read.

Audience and podcast analytics

We use Cloudflare to understand website visits, navigation, article scroll depth, active reading time and podcast engagement. Tagged email links identify the campaign, never the recipient. A campaign label may be kept in this tab’s session storage for up to 30 minutes of inactivity so we can see which pages that email leads to.

To measure visits and returning readership, a random browser identifier is kept on this device for up to 180 days, alongside a visit identifier that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. These identifiers cannot tell us your name or identify you across devices. If storage is blocked, visitor and retention figures cannot include that browser reliably. Clearing storage starts a new identity.

Engagement records contain public page details, random identifiers, event counts, timestamps and an optional campaign label. They do not contain names, email addresses, IP addresses, full referring URLs or query strings. External link tracking records only the destination website, except links to our published YouTube episodes, which also record the public video ID. Embedded video starts, 25/50/75% watched milestones and completions are measured through the YouTube player when available. Seeking ahead does not count as watching skipped sections. Playback on YouTube itself is not measured here. Active time pauses when a tab is hidden, unfocused or inactive. Share and download counts measure clicks, not completed shares or downloads.

We honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control for our first-party engagement tracker. You can also turn off this measurement here. Cloudflare’s separate traffic measurement has its own aggregate counts.

Statistics are available privately to the publisher. Browser recognition starts from the introduction of this tracking; it cannot reconstruct earlier visits.
